How long have you been growing sweet plantain? Started 4 years ago.
What else do you grow? Avocado, mango, jackfruit.
Where did you sell your plantains before partnering with Amazi? traded them off to middlemen.
What does a day in your life look like? Wake up early, prepare breakfast, go to the garden. eventually, break for lunch and go to farm more until evening. Then I prepare supper.
What is the greatest challenge as a farmer? Lack of capital for labor, equipment, etc. It really is all on my physical capacity to help keep things going.
What has the relationship with Amazi Foods allowed for you? When Amazi buys from me, I get higher prices, and that allows me to help the family I stay with.
What have you been able to do with the additional income? It's helped me invest in occasional labor and support on the farm. It also has played a crucial role in helping me purchase things for my home.
What do you want to say to US customers? The market helps a lot! Would be able to invest in equipment with more support and customers. You all help us as ladies to get things with our own income.
