Meet our Farmers: Peace Tumushabe

Meet another one of our female farmers from Western Uganda - a part of the Isingiro Farmers group, Peace Tumushabe.

NAME: Peace Tumushabe

Role: Farmer in the Isingiro Farmers Group, for 2 years.

Age: 53

Household: 7 children, ages 16-34.

How long have you been growing sweet plantains? 3 years.

What else do you grow? Avocados, mangos, jackfruit.

Where did you used to sell your sweet plantains before partnering with Amazi? middlemen.

What's a typical day in your life look like? Prepare porridge the evening before, so it is ready to go with me to the farm in the morning. I go to the garden, and work until lunch. Then I rest and prepare supper.

What are the greatest challenges of being a farmer? It's a rather far walk to the plantation, and there is no money for labor.

What have you been able to do with the additional funds from partnering with Amazi Foods? I've actually been able to save up to open a small shop with the premiums!

What would you like to say to US Customers?! We want this partnership to stay!! We appreciate your business. It helps a lot. Keep eating the snacks!
